I wanted to share this article from Airliners.net created by member LAXintl regarding aircraft operating costs, fuel burn, etc. It is incredible to me that the 747 burns around 3300 gallons per hour:eek: A lot different than 9 gallons per hour in a Piper Warrior!

As part of sharing various industry metrics, this time I am posting aircraft operating cost as reported to the DOT by US airlines for the year 2012.
The comparison might be interesting for people to see how various popular models stack up internally and between different airlines.
For reference, the reported total block hour cost includes - aircraft ownership(lease/mortgage/financing), crew, insurance, taxes, direct maintenance, and any maintenance burdens(eg power by hour contracts).
Besides the total block hour cost, I have also listed the reported per hour average fuel burn in gallons, average stage length, and reported cost per ASM.
